- That depends on what Escom does. If new A4000s start rolling off with
- riduculous pricetags, that may not satiate the market which has been
- waiting for them.
-
- If new A4000s are reasonably priced but still suffer from the
- inadequacies of the machines which CBM made when they died, they will be
- seen as again, too pricey because so much of the A4000s will be
- essentially dead weight (like the 040/25) which will not be used in favor
- of WarpEngines and Cyberstorms, hence raising the cost of getting a
- suitable machine beyond the point of practicality.
-
- As long as Escom releases machines at a fair price with the best
- technology they can, then I'd say they will remain viable for the short-term.
-
- However, nothing Escom has said since buying the Amiga has filled me with
- confidence that they will update the A4000 and A1200 the way they should.
- At this point I predict that A1200s will roll off the assembly line the
- same as before, with bog slow EC020/14s, and that A4000s will roll off
- same as before with stripped down 040/25s and both with slow IDE
- interfaces.
